See the following URL:
http://www.reevestaskforce.ca/
If you’re worried about urbanization, increased taxes, and increased debt, you should plan on attending at least one of these. I’m planning to go to 4 of them, including the first (01 Sept 2010 at the Balzac Community Hall). I’ll report on my take of the meeting.
Open house for “say what?”
On Thursday, 09 Sept 2010, 4 PM to 8 PM, Rocky View will conduct an open house at the Bearspaw Lions Hall. The open house will deal with the Context Report for Bearspaw Commercial and Institutional Node. Now if your first reaction to this is, “Say what?”, join the club.
Here’s the story as I understand it. The county has received two proposals to develop on county land: an expansion of the Bearspaw Lifestyle Centre and the addition of a park next to the old schoolhouse. Before proceeding, planners would like to put together a report that will consider the bigger picture of how these lands could be developed. There will be a short presentation at 10 minutes past the hour for each of the 4 hours, but you can attend at any time to look at the display boards and ask questions. I think it would be worth a look.
Election website
My election website is up. It has some info about me and my platform. Go to the following URL:
http://ourbearspaw.ca/

I said I’d give her an answer this morning.
I’ve been thinking about this for a while; I’ve been talking to others that could run. For various reasons, these others are unavailable.
As you know, I’ve been a long-time critic of our present council. I have shared this calling with many others. As you also know, outside criticism hasn’t had a big effect. Therefore, the time has come for change from the inside. What we need is a council who listens. What we need is a council who understands the answer to the question, “Who is the customer in this transaction?” Just in case there’s any doubt, the correct answer is “you.”
To make a long story short, when Sarah called a few minutes ago, I told her, “Yes, I will run.” I’ll have more details later as the shock to my system abates.

Since it's been sitting there for almost 2 years, I assume that up until now it has been a chicken coop. I also assume allowing its placement 2 years ago without a development permit, despite numerous complaints, is just another example of the respect Rocky View council and staff hold for residents and our bylaws. If you'd like to appeal the development permit, it'll cost you $175 and you have to file by 17 August 2010. Upon filing, I expect staff will smile and say, "respect you."
